A shooting inside a nightclub in Orlando, Fla., early Sunday morning is the largest mass shooting in U.S. history
Orlando city officials said about 50 people were killed and 53 injured after a gunman opened fire inside the gay nightclub at about 2 a.m. on Sunday. That eclipses the 32 who were killed on the Virginia Tech campus in 2007.
The Florida gunman was identified as Omar Mateen, an American citizen living in Port St. Lucie, Fla., by federal officials.
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was among the first to react to the horrific shooting at an Orlando gay nightclub early Sunday morning.
Trump tweeted before more details became known about the incident, which is leading many experts to suspect radical Islamic terrorism.
