Trump Says He Will Sign Very First Bill to Repeal Obamacare

GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump announced Tuesday morning his intention to repeal Obamacare if and when he becomes America’s next president.

“I will sign the first bill to repeal Obamacare and give Americans many choices and much lower rates!” he wrote on Facebook.

He could not have timed the announcement any better, what with devastating news about President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare law already trending across the nation.

As reported by The Daily Signal, health care consumers were expected to experience both a spike in premiums and a reduction in insurers.

“Many insurers, large and small, have decided to leave the exchanges after losing millions of dollars last year; they either withdrew from states altogether or decreased the number of policies offered,” the news website reported, adding that some states were down to just a single insurer.

Likewise, premiums were skyrocketing everywhere, with consumers in Minnesota expected to pay 50 to 67 percent more for coverage next year. Warren Jones, a Missouri resident, shared their grief. His premium reportedly rose from $318 in 2014, the year Obamacare took effect, to $716 for 2017.

Even Democrats had begun to recognize the futility of Obama’s health care law.

“Ultimately … the reality is the Affordable Care Act is no longer affordable for an increasing number of people,” Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton, a Democrat, said last week, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

“We’re going to need both state and federal governments to step in and do what they need to do to remedy these problems,” he added. “It’s a very serious problem.”

Translation: Let’s get the government even more involved in health care, since that’s worked so well.

It is indeed a very serious problem — one that requires a very serious solution. But whereas Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton’s solution is merely to tweak Obamacare, Trump hopes instead to get rid of it altogether.

Whose solution will ultimately triumph? The voters must decide that for themselves on Nov. 8.
