The epic election loss of Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has seemingly taken a heavy toll on her health, leaving her looking pallid and sleep-deprived.
As reported by The Daily Caller, Clinton spoke Wednesday at the annual gala for the Children’s Defense Fund in Washington in what was her first post-election appearance in public, and social media have come alive with comments about how she looked.
“Now, I will admit, coming here tonight wasn’t the easiest thing for me,” she said during the event. “There have been a few times this past week when all I wanted to do was just to curl up with a good book or our dogs and never leave the house again.”
But it was not what she said that caught people’s attention — it was how she looked:
Her face was pale, she lacked makeup and she displayed no zest for life. It was as if all the energy had been drained out of her, leaving a shell of the frenzied human being she had previously been.

In trying to explain (or justify) why the former Democrat nominee showed up at the gala looking so haggard, Slate writer L.V. Anderson maintained that Clinton “no longer has to” try to look presentable to the public.
“An enormous amount of invisible labor went into making Clinton look youthful and refreshed while she was on the campaign trail,” Anderson admitted. “Clinton, and everyone around her, knew that if she ever went outside without her hair perfectly coiffed and her face covered in makeup, she would get raked through the coals (sic) for looking old and ragged.”
