There was another suspected terrorist attack in Paris, France again Saturday. He was killed after attempting to wrestle an a gun away from a military unit.
French prosecutors said the suspect’s house was among the ones that were searched in November 2015 in the immediate aftermath of ISIS suicide bomb and gun attacks that killed 130 people in Paris. The searches were meant to target those who were feared to practice radicalized Islam.
The prosecutors have said that the suspect’s father and brother are now being questioned by police.
The attacker has now been identified Ziyed Ben Belgacem.
French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian noted that Belgacem attacked 3 different members of the Air Force while on his rampage. The other soldier who was attacked held on to her gun long enough for 2 other soldiers to open fire, killing him.
No one else was injured however the airport had to be cleared and all flights were diverted to Charles De Gaulle airport on the other side of Paris.
French President Francois Hollande said there was no link between Saturday’s attack and the looming French presidential election in April and May, concluding that France has been battling the threat of extremism for many years.
He went on to say that the military guards patrolling populated sites “is essential,” and that the nation “must remain extremely vigilant.”
We will be hearing about more attacks like this soon if nothing is done about radicalized Islam. France has been the victim of several of said attacks just in the past few years. This is due in large part to their policies on accepting refugees. Until something substantial is done we can expect to see more and more attacks like this.
What do you guys think of the attacks that seem to continue on a daily basis in European countries?
