We knew Trump would be filling his administration with a lot of Washington OUTSIDERS.
And there was one name in particular that conservatives were itching to see added to the roster – Sheriff David Clarke.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff has become a darling of the conservative movement, despite the fact that he himself ran as a Democrat.
Clarke made a name for himself over the past several years by harshly opposing the race-baiting policies of Barack Obama.
While himself a black man, Clarke came down hard on the racist Black Lives Matter movement, and encouraged Americans to support their police officers.
The Washington Free Beacon reports on Clarke’s new role:
The Trump administration tapped Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke to serve as assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for partnership and engagement.
Clarke, a tough-talking, conservative firebrand recognized by his penchant for cowboy hats, announced the appointment during an interview with a local Wisconsin radio station Wednesday afternoon.
“I’m both honored and humbled to be a appointed to this position, working for the Trump administration in this position,” Clarke told WISN Milwaukee.
Clarke will begin in the position in June. The position does not require Senate confirmation.
